Warwickshire Cycle Buddies
Warwickshire Cycle Buddies is an innovative scheme that aims to support more people to cycle their local journeys, especially short ones of less than 5 miles. Recognising that some people may not have the knowledge or confidence to do this straight away, they buddy up new cyclists with more experienced volunteers, to support them to get on their bike more regularly.
The Cycle Buddies scheme was developed by Clean Air Warwickshire, who received funding from the first round of the Green Shoots fund to set up in the south of the county. This resulted in 30 new cyclists being matched with experienced buddies, leaving them feeling more able and confident to switch some of the short car journeys for a cycling alternative.
In the second round, the additional £2,275 will be used to expand the scheme into North Warwickshire and Nuneaton and Bedworth boroughs.
